Ooops, I Did It Again

Image
Well, I did it again. I spent a week out of town working on a job during the day and letting Julie out to play during the evening. Those who follow this blog will know I have a bi-annual (semi-annual? twice-a-year annual??) job on the other side of the state. It's a full week - drive over on Monday, work Tuesday thru Thursday, drive back on Friday.  On the plus side, I have my evenings free. On the minus side, I'm  in a small town in Western WA where most everything closes by 8pm. And since I work til 7 . . . (sigh) But I still manage to get Pretty and go out I try to arrive early in the day on Monday so I can hit the Outlet Malls (perhaps the biggest draw) and the thrift shops (at least 3 good ones here). This trip was no exception. Monday Night's Outfit After some shopping, I went to my usual haunt -- Applebee's. Only coming here twice a year for a few days, I am always impressed that the bartenders there - Nerissa and Nicole - know me. On Monday I walked in and Neris...

Come Fly With Me - Back To The Adventure

Get it? "Back"? (lol) Where was I? Oh yeah - I was at the office in a skirt, pantyhose and pumps! I was with a law firm for 4 years. That place closed down and we all went to the 4 winds. I have been at this new firm since April, and in that time have run into former co-workers 3 or 4 times. On Halloween, as Flight Attendant Betsy, I ran into 6 different former co-workers - mostly over my lunch hour!  Do these glasses make me look fat? (lol) I went to Mod Pizza, where the 2 managers know me by name. I took them by surprise, and one told me that if I DIDN'T take first prize, she'd hurt someone. On my way there I ran into an attorney I used to work with. As we walked and talked, a Paralegal from the old office approached us. She started chatting with him, but was giving me a look that said she had no idea who I was.  I split off from them and started down the escalator. Halfway down I heard her voice almost shout, "No Way!" I emailed her the next day and she...

Happy Halloween - or - Come Fly With Me

I started a new job back in April - working at a law firm as "Support Staff". Pretty much keeping the office running while everyone else does legal stuff.  And in male drab mode, of course. This firm likes to party, so when word went out 2 weeks ago about the Halloween Day Costume Contest, I was intrigued. My previous employer(s) never paid much attention to Halloween. So I spoke with HR to find out what, if any, guidelines there were for the costumes. Family Friendly was all I got, but I did learn that first prize was a $100 Amazon Gift Card. I jokingly (yeah, right) said if I wanted to win I should come in drag. Her response was, "If you can work the day like that, I'm OK with it." So now the challenge began. I didn't want to just put on a dress, but I also didn't want to go "Full Julie". A day or so later I was chating with our receptionist and I learned she'd been a flight attendant back in the 80's and 90's. BINGO - that was ...
