The Drought Is Over, And I'm Still Thirsty

Image
My outfit on Jan 2! To help you catch up - I was working on the road from October 18 thru January 1. Due to the circumstances of the job, Julie stayed at home for that time. It was he longest "forced pause" I've ever experienced, and after 2 weeks I started feeling it. I got home on New Years Day, and wasted little time in getting my silks and satins out of storage. I also got to work planning a Sister Friends gathering. (Footnote - the name Sister Friends was coined for our group many years ago. Since then, the membership has grown and changed)  The appointed day for our Brunch Reunion was approaching, so I got to the task at hand - selecting an outfit. This is usually us - and I am always the one on the right! So I started going through the closet to pick out my wardrobe. Feminine but not too fancy, girly but not to frilly, something I haven't been able to wear for the past 3 months. This is what I went with Three of us carpooled to the restaurant, meeting the new...

OMG - What A Month It's Been!

Image
I hate roller coasters.  Really. When I attend an amusement park I don't even THINK about going near the roller coasters. Not for me. That being said - this past month has been one large, long, draining, sad, and unpleasant roller coaster ride. Let me explain. I am an actor - formerly by profession, currently by avid interest in getting on stage in front of an audience.  The theaters in Spokane set their schedules and I look them over, hoping to find a play I'd be interested in as well as fit to cast in.  This year I found 2, both for the Christmas Season.  Due to work responsibilities and stuff, I am unable to participate in either of them. ~~ sigh ~~ I am the Admin Person for a FB Group - a group started by a friend who asked me to continue it in her memory.  It has been a joy for about 2 years, but all of a sudden it became popular. We were getting 60 new people joining every few days! I was not prepared, neither for this jump in membership nor the po...

How To Pick Up A Perscription While En Femme . . .

Image
Nothing is worse than having to delay/cancel a dressing up session because of a certain errand that you must run.  Picking up my perscription at the drug store is one of them.  I have to identify WHOSE scrip I am wanting, which connects me as that name with the pharmacist.  Well, this week I decided to not worry about it!   I had a full Julie Day ahead of me, and I was going to be in the neighborhood of my pharmacy and I needed to get that scrip.   So, wearing a jean skirt, black tights, black kitten heel booties, a cute top and my Purple Peacoat, I ventured into the drug store about 10 AM on a Thursday.   Hardly a crowd on a Thurs AM I walked boldly up to the counter, and when the pharmacist approached I said, "Ummm - I need to pick up my husband's prescription." --- Cop Out?  Good Cover? You decide.  All I know is it worked.  I got the scrip, didn't have to delay my "Day Of Julie" time, and was in and out before I knew...

Sisters, Sisters, There Were Never Such Important Sisters

Image
As we approach the 1 year Anniversary of the Pandemic Lockdown, I find myself missing many things.  Going to a nice restaurant, a movie, and of course The Theater - not only attending but (for those who do not know) acting in and directing plays.  But the thing that leaves the biggest hole in my heart is not being able to meet with my Sister Friends.  Not being able to sip coffee (or something stronger!) and chat about life, the universe and everything.  It took me SO long to come out to friends and to build up a super support network of loving, caring ladies.  Now, with that unceremoniously pulled away from me, I have found myself bouncing back and forth between lonliness and depression.   Original Sister Friend Sarah Going shopping, grabbing a coffee and walking through the park, sitting on the back porch, sharing a meal . . . not only are all these things better when wearing a cute skirt and heels, but much more so when you can share them wit...

Out And About Once Again - Finally!

Image
It has been FAR too long since Julie was actually Out and About.  So yesterday was SUCH a thrill on many levels.  My Dear Sister Friend, Sarah, offered to get together for a walk and coffee in the morning.  We both had masks, we were out in the open air, and we had such a WONDERFUL talk!   Sipping and chatting - but you can see our masks were present when not sipping It had been so long, we had a lot of catching up to do.  We spent 2 hours walking and talking and reveling in each other's presence.  I think we both needed the time together.  At one point, Sarah paid me a wonderful compliment and I surprised myself when I got rather emotional!  It has been a VERY long time. Later in the day, I did some shopping - for some necessities and some non-necessities.  :) Treating myself to some fun clothes Filling the pantry After returning home, I indulged in some photos for future "I Love Dressing" Memes. Lighting was poor Sank into the sofa! Un...

I Love Dressing Meme Of The Day

Image
A while ago I started a feature on my FB page -- the "I Love Dressing" Meme Of The Day.  I started collecting them from the Interwebs some time back, but then was challenged to create my own.  Finding photos that were appropriate for the captions was tricky, but I think I managed some successes. I'm always on the lookout for new material, captions, ideas to express in these memes.  So if you have any suggestions . . . ?? During these troubles times, my usual sign off seems more pressing than ever . . .  Stay Safe And Pretty, Sweeties

Ring Out The Old Year

Image
My group of girl friends - The Sister Friends, as we call  ourselves - have a tradition of getting together after Christmas for drinks and elegance. Our gathering from Christmas 2018 This year we opted for brunch and shopping!  With my recent return to the ranks of the full time employed, my chances for getting pretty have been few and far between, So this outing was a VERY welcome event.  I was so happy to be pretty, I almost ruined my mascara! ~~schmeep!~ Sarah and I - ready to hit the town! We had a lovely brunch and hit a few thrift shops.  I was on a quest - since I have lost weight, I needed a new denim skirt.  Not only did I find one, but also a cute top to go with it.  Then as we approached the cash register, Sarah grabbed my clothes and said Merry Christmas! ~ double schmeep~ Lovely day, lovely Sister Friends, lovely wrap of 2019. Stay safe and pretty, Sweeties!
