Thrifting Is Thrifty

Image
It was a while in coming, but Linda and I finally got in our morning of Thrift Stores!  She was on a mission - had to exchange a cami and was looking for jeans.  I went along to be chauffeur and, --- well, I mean - c'mon! It was a chance to go thrift shopping!!  "Where to now, Mum?" She found what she was looking for, and I found something I never thought I'd be looking for. As I have stated in previous blogs, I am a skirt and dress kinda gal.  I mean, why wear pants when I can wear skirts, right?  Well, I spotted a gorgeous pant suit that I fell in love with.  Yup, this dyed in the wool "petticoat gal" tried it on.  Linda said it was perfect - and who am I to argue with her!   The white top seems to go well Personal preferences (and necessities) require a long sleeve top with it, and this white one was the best I had on hand.  Hmmm, maybe I need to go shopping again to find a better top for the outfit? ...

All Dressed Up and No Place To Go

Basic Black - always a hit Seems like I have been falling into a rut -- the rut of getting all dressed up first thing in the morning and then not having any where to go.  Most days I am without a vehicle.  Not really a deterrent to going out - I have a bus pass that will get me almost anywhere in our lovely town. When driving to the local Value Village, for example, it takes me 5 minutes.  To get there by bus would require walking, bus, change bus, and more walking -- about 25 minutes. Not to mention I must go when the bus is running, not whenever I feel like it. The other difficulty comes when I realize I will be venturing out alone.  Now, I've done it before, and will probably do it again and again.  But having someone to chat with, to see if that top REALLY goes with that skirt, to dish the dirt about 3r...

Vintage, Thrift, and Great Conversation

Experienced a wonderful day out with Linda today -- we made an afternoon of it.  She picked me up and off we went to the local thrift shops.  I found a VERY cute white dress, a comfy and stretchy material, but it was a tad small.  "Tad"??  I now know how a sausage feels.  I almost had to ask Linda to come help me get out of it! Ah, the curse of being a curvy lady. Linda found a cute skirt and top to go with it.  We then tried on a couple dozen pair of shoes, but as it was with the clothes, I found nothing that fit.  Some wild styles, but I came up bupkis. Saw a pair similar to these, labeled 9 1/2 W.  That's my size -- but they were NOT 9 1/2 W. Drat! So on we went on to our next stop -- a new Vintage Clothing and Accessories Store in my neighborhood.  They have clothes at somewhat reasonable prices, as well as knick knacks and stuff.  Linda found a sun dress for $9, but wanted to try it on.  They have no dressing rooms a...
