Blog Post #170! And a Special Event

Image
Wow - 170 posts. And I had a wonderful experience to report on, too. One of the hardest things for a crossdresser to do is interact with cis women out in public. The fears and insecurities pile up - will she clock me? Will she make a scene? Will she simple accept me for who I am? This fear was put to the test yesterday. OOTD I had to take the bus to run an errand or two, and since it was Monday morning I went with the "Office Gal" look.  I walked to the bus stop - a different one than I usually take. There was a woman sitting there waiting for the bus, so I stood slightly behind her. She immediately turned to me to ask about the bus schedule. Making a long story short, it turns out there was a detour on this route and the stop we were at was "Closed". We had to walk about 6 blocks to another stop, which meant some real conversation. If she did register that I was a "guy in a dress", she never showed it. She asked my name, shared her story, and we hit it of...

It's Been Far Too Long

Image
Usually I have something to write about at least every other week. But as I look here I see my last entry was over 2 months ago!  YIKES! So I feel obligated to write an entry - even though absolutely NOTHING has happened in the past 2 months.  Nothing. Zip. Nada. So, how about a photo dump? And so, until next time . . .

My Favorite Things

Image
In addition to writing a Blog myself, I follow a few. The one that got me started down this path is Femulate by Stana (http://www.femulate.org), a combination of insights, How To's, history, and inspiration.  I occasionally share some of her best stuff (with permission, of course) and this one struck a chord with me. It sums up my feelings when Julie is being her full self - as well as an answer to the question "Why do I crossdress" MY FAVORITE THINGS by Stana Smoothing the back of my skirt as I sit down. Pencil skirts. Crossing my legs and letting a high-heel pump dangle from the tip of my stockinged foot. Carrying a purse— my purse . Taking a compact from it to touch up my makeup. Wearing high heels. Hearing the click of those heels as I walk. Being called “Ma’am.” Better yet… being called “Miss.” Wrap dresses. A complete stranger stopping to say, “I like your dress,” or compliment something else I’m wearing. Shopping in a clothing store that opens a dr...

Fake It Til You Can Get Out And About For Real Again

Image
Previously on Julie Out And About - I have been out of town for a month now - and due to my work/living situation, Julie had to stay behind in WA.  Being an actor, I know the power of "let's pretend". Or, as some say, the "fake it til you make it" attitude. Well, I have been trying to keep MY attitude rose colored, but it hasn't been easy. Walking around NYC, all I can think about is how I'd enjoy it SO much more if I was dressed pretty. What's a girl to do? Grin and bear it, I guess. Try to occupy my mind with other stuff and not dwell on it. But when I see women walking down 8th Avenue in GORGEOUS outfits, when I hear their heels click-clacking across 42nd Street, it becomes VERY disheartening. It makes me think, "when will I be able to let Julie Out and About again?" (well, I know when that may be, because I get back home January 5th, but you know what I mean) Time for a photo So I will continue on, trying to enjoy this chapter of my l...

Julie's Final Outings --- for now

Image
Don't Panic!  (hey, it worked for Douglas Adams) Let me explain. No, there's no time - let me sum up. (William Goldman) I will be hitting the road at the end of the week - out of town work that will take me thru January 5th.  But it will mean that Julie will stay home as the other guy traverses the country.   Toward that end, I was able to take 2 very good outings this past week.  On Thursday I had a night out.  Wandering the Mall Finding some light reading for my trip As well as a test drive for my new Red Coat I wanted to get REALLY dressed up, so this night that included my fingers. IMPRESS nails - in 10 years I've only had one fall off The biggest disappointment was that I was - again - alone. Then came Saturday, and I was able to fall back into my "semi-regular" Saturday morning routine. Starting with breakfast at Golden Corral. Casual Saturday Wardrobe I was greeted with a smile by the cashier at the front. Sweet gal, and I complimented her nec...

Who Was That Lady?

Image
For those of you still using Facebook, you know it can be a rather interesting forum. Questions get posed, statements made, arguments inflamed. Recently I posted one of my "I Love Dressing" Memes that stated, "I'm a straight male. I just have a feminine side, and I'm really comfortable with that". A friend asked me to elaborate on that statement, so I composed this response to him. I hope this not only informs but possibly assists someone who may be going through a similar journey. " As you pointed out, I said I identify as a Hetero Male To Female Crossdresser. By this, I mean I am a genetic male, attracted to genetic females. You asked if I was also attracted to trans women - that gets difficult to reply to. I am married and faithful, so I wouldn't have sexual relations with anyone other than my Darling Wife. I have never found myself (knowingly) attracted to a trans woman. However, I do appreciate the female form and figure. As I tell people to w...

Ooops, I Did It Again

Image
Well, I did it again. I spent a week out of town working on a job during the day and letting Julie out to play during the evening. Those who follow this blog will know I have a bi-annual (semi-annual? twice-a-year annual??) job on the other side of the state. It's a full week - drive over on Monday, work Tuesday thru Thursday, drive back on Friday.  On the plus side, I have my evenings free. On the minus side, I'm  in a small town in Western WA where most everything closes by 8pm. And since I work til 7 . . . (sigh) But I still manage to get Pretty and go out I try to arrive early in the day on Monday so I can hit the Outlet Malls (perhaps the biggest draw) and the thrift shops (at least 3 good ones here). This trip was no exception. Monday Night's Outfit After some shopping, I went to my usual haunt -- Applebee's. Only coming here twice a year for a few days, I am always impressed that the bartenders there - Nerissa and Nicole - know me. On Monday I walked in and Neris...

Come Fly With Me - Back To The Adventure

Image
Get it? "Back"? (lol) Where was I? Oh yeah - I was at the office in a skirt, pantyhose and pumps! I was with a law firm for 4 years. That place closed down and we all went to the 4 winds. I have been at this new firm since April, and in that time have run into former co-workers 3 or 4 times. On Halloween, as Flight Attendant Betsy, I ran into 6 different former co-workers - mostly over my lunch hour!  Do these glasses make me look fat? (lol) I went to Mod Pizza, where the 2 managers know me by name. I took them by surprise, and one told me that if I DIDN'T take first prize, she'd hurt someone. On my way there I ran into an attorney I used to work with. As we walked and talked, a Paralegal from the old office approached us. She started chatting with him, but was giving me a look that said she had no idea who I was.  I split off from them and started down the escalator. Halfway down I heard her voice almost shout, "No Way!" I emailed her the next day and she...

Happy Halloween - or - Come Fly With Me

Image
I started a new job back in April - working at a law firm as "Support Staff". Pretty much keeping the office running while everyone else does legal stuff.  And in male drab mode, of course. This firm likes to party, so when word went out 2 weeks ago about the Halloween Day Costume Contest, I was intrigued. My previous employer(s) never paid much attention to Halloween. So I spoke with HR to find out what, if any, guidelines there were for the costumes. Family Friendly was all I got, but I did learn that first prize was a $100 Amazon Gift Card. I jokingly (yeah, right) said if I wanted to win I should come in drag. Her response was, "If you can work the day like that, I'm OK with it." So now the challenge began. I didn't want to just put on a dress, but I also didn't want to go "Full Julie". A day or so later I was chating with our receptionist and I learned she'd been a flight attendant back in the 80's and 90's. BINGO - that was ...
