Joni Mitchell Was Right

"Don't It Always Seem To Go That You Don't Know What You've Got Til It's Gone" Being under lock down has been hard.  Now, I think I'm one of the fortunate ones in that my job was considered essential (enough) that I have been going to the office every day since this all started.   But my job is in "Boy Mode", so while I have been getting out of the house every day, Julie has not. So I took some time on Saturday to get all pretty for no reason other than Getting Pretty.  Didn't get together with my Sister Friends, didn't go anywhere, didn't even step out the door onto the porch!  However, the effects of the session were tangible.  I had not been sleeping well for about 3 weeks.  Never felt relaxed, or de-stressed.  After a 3 hour session of "Pampering", I had the most restful night's sleep in a LONG time.  Funny how that works! Office Worries - Not CV, But CD

Image
I have been working in a law office for 5 months now (in drab mode, unfortunately).  After adjusting to the schedule and duties, I realized the biggest difficulty in the office would be all the ladies there who dress for business.  There are a half dozen who have incredible fashion sense - and it makes me SO jealous!  How I would adore walking through the halls in a nice business suit with a pencil skirt, listening to my heels click clack on the hardwood floors. I can even type 50 WPM with long nails! Wouldn't it be nice to be able to dress how I want where I want - but to hold this job I must conform.  Even though (I think) I would look better than half the other ladies! ~~giggle~~ After Hours Cocktail Anyone? For Casual Friday So, I must remain not only frustrated, but also silent.  You see, I have found that a hetero male complimenting a woman on her outfit gets - - - very MIXED responses.  So as much as I'd like to discuss wardrob...

The Ladies Who Brunch

Image
"Here's to the Ladies who lunch . . . everybody rise!"  I am headed out of town for 2 months (actually, at this posting, I am already out of town) so we tried to have a Sister Friends get together before I hit the trail. Coordinating schedules proved to be difficult this time round, so instead of a night on the town, we did brunch. Now this wouldn't be such a big thing if it weren't for the fact that I've never gone out in a bunch during the daylight hours, let alone been in a restaurant while the sun is shining.  But they say there's safety in numbers, and I always feel safe with these ladies, so we went. The Ladies of Sister Friends - the number keeps growing! The hardest decision was - as usual - what to wear!  The week prior I had selected a number of outfits, narrowed it down to 3 by Friday night, and then finally selected one early Saturday morning.  I did feel slightly over dressed in hose and heels but I didn't care - I was very...

Revel In All Victories - Both Large And Small

Image
It's easy to post about big events - like my recent nights out (http://juliemshaw.blogspot.com/2017/11/really-out-and-pretty-about.html), but we should celebrate the small victories as well. Last Thursday I walked down to Linda's house and had coffee.  A rather simple and non-impressive statement.  But it is just as important as any other.   Outfit for the day Time was when just walking out the door would be considered a MAJOR accomplishment.  Now I can write "I went out for coffee and I did not have a major panic attack."  Me likey. Ahh, Fresh Air! Here's to many more adventures - large and small. Stay safe and pretty, Sweeties!

Fiddling In The Kitchen

Image
Playing  in the Pantry Spent most of yesterday in the kitchen -- cooking, of course. I was planning meals for the week and made a few different dishes - not the least being my favorite Breakfast Muffins.  Eggs, cheese, veggies, some ground beef - a complete meal in a muffin. Making Muffins I also whipped up a meat loaf, sautéed some sausages, and indulged myself in one of my guilty pleasures - - - -  Mac and Cheese! Cap it all off with a nice cup of tea (or 4), and it was a wonderful day. Bon Appetite!  Stay safe and pretty, Sweeties!
