Here's To The Ladies Who Dine

Image
I recently went to dinner with a new Sister Friend, Theresa. It was our first Girls Night with just the 2 of us, and it was SO much fun. She has been a friend for a few years to my guy side, but was recently introduced to Julie.  The first " fun" part of the evening was Getting Ready. I work (in guy mode) until 5:30pm and we had wante d to get an early start, so I packed a ”Julie Bag” and brought it to the office. We have a gym in the building, so I dropped the bag off in a locker when I arrived in the morning. Now, I had to get changed in the Men’s Locker Room (at 5:30 there are still quite a few folks wandering the halls and our office is RIGHT next to the Women's Locker Room/Restroom). So after work I ventured into the Men's, got my bag and went into one of the private shower rooms. We had decided on casual attire (even though I REALLY prefer skirts and dresses) so I was in leggings, a dusty rose t-shirt top, and a maroon duster. (pantyhose and booties, too) After...

When We Last Saw Our Heroine . . .

She was wrapping up a pretty fun and full week.  I had another trip for pie and coffee.  There were a few tables of "young folk" there this time (high school seniors-ish) who gave me a second glance, but said nothing. Then there was more time spent downtown. The Bloomsday Runners statues - downtown landmark   Hoopfest - the nation's biggest 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament - getting set up Outside the old Masonic Temple - we both were a little stiff   Does this store make me look fat?  The true highlight of Friday, however, comes with no photos.  I had connected with another Girl Like Me on line and came to find out my male side is friends with his wife!! "Kendra" had recently come out to her and asked if I could talk to her about it all.  I was invited to their house for dinner and we had a wonderful chat.  By the end of the evening, the wife was visibly at ease with Kendra and I being there.  She even suggested making...

Dinner And An Eclipse

Image
Friends are people who enjoy getting together just to get together.  A nice meal, good wine - those are extras.  When friends get together and share what's been going on in their lives - the ups AND the downs - and they all are genuinely concerned about and for one another, THAT is friendship. Sunday night I invited Sarah and Linda over for a home cooked Chinese meal.  It had been a month or more since we'd been together, so we had a bit of catching up to do.   Sarah brought the wine And Linda brought the cheesecake We enjoyed a nice Chicken Stir Fry meal (even if I do say so myself! ~~giggle~~) and lots of girl talk.  We talked together, ate together, and prayed together. All in all, a WONDERFUL evening that ended too soon. (Unfortunately, the effects of the wine and cheesecake DIDN'T end too soon.) The next morning was Aug 21st - Eclipse Day.  I busied myself around the house while waiting for the event. Here in Spokane we experienced ...
