Girls Just Wanna Go Shopping

Image
Every now and then, you get the uncontrollable desire to do something -- like shrug off all other responsibilities and just go shopping!  Just such a desire overcame me last Saturday morning.  So I bundled myself up cozy and got an early start. I needed an early start, because it took me quite a while to decide on an outfit for the morning. (everyone who is surprised by this, raise your manicured hand!)  My preference is (as always) skirt and hose, or on a chilly morning, tights.  But then my OTHER preference it to blend in - not look like a Guy In A Dress.  So I went with leggings and a pair of comfy kitten heeled boots. First Stop - the Bank! I was determined to ONLY shop for Julie this trip - so I wanted to hit my 2 favorite places. The first was Ross Dress For Less, where I found a bargain on the Clearance Rack. Normally $35, I got it for $7!! Next stop was Dress Barn -- but it was no more! Just an empty store, right next to Wal*Mart. So not wanting t...

Home Improvement (arr arr arr!*)

In redecorating the bedroom, I acquired a wonderful piece of new furniture. (well, new to ME, that is) Comfy Chaise It fit perfectly into the window alcove, which makes it perfect for reading, or just cuddling with the cat. Perfect fit There's only one minor thing wrong with it . . .  Waaaaaayyy too comfortable!  (Not that there's anything wrong with that - giggle)  But then that's what bedroom furniture SHOULD be, right??? That, and it's hard to get in and out of in a skirt and remain ladylike. Stay safe and pretty (and comfy), Sweeties. (*remember Tim Allen's HOME IMPROVEMENT?)

Once More Into The Neighborhood

Image
Chilly morning - gloves to keep warm and hide the lack of manicure Looking head, I see there will be few more opportunities to get out until mid July, so I took a walk today.  It was rather chilly, with a bit of wind blowing. So I ventured out into the neighborhood again, aiming at the grocery store a few blocks away. On The Porch and Ready To Go I planned to stop at the shop, but by the time I got there, a number of young men were hanging around the front of the store. I didn't want to risk it (yes, I chickened out), so I turned the corner and explored a part of the neighborhood I hadn't seen.  I ventured down to a pretty overlook that went down into the valley, and I discovered landmarks I didn't know were there. Should I try this church on Sunday morning? I was able to chat with a workman putting a roof on the house 3 doors down.  Nothing exciting, and for that I was grateful.  Still, I need to push the boundaries a bit. Oh we...

All Dressed Up and No Place To Go

Image
Basic Black - always a hit Seems like I have been falling into a rut -- the rut of getting all dressed up first thing in the morning and then not having any where to go.  Most days I am without a vehicle.  Not really a deterrent to going out - I have a bus pass that will get me almost anywhere in our lovely town. Me on a previous outing - waiting for the aforementioned bus But travel by bus requires planning and a time commitment. When driving to the local Value Village, for example, it takes me 5 minutes.  To get there by bus would require walking, bus, change bus, and more walking -- about 25 minutes. Not to mention I must go when the bus is running, not whenever I feel like it. The other difficulty comes when I realize I will be venturing out alone.  Now, I've done it before, and will probably do it again and again.  But having someone to chat with, to see if that top REALLY goes with that skirt, to dish the dirt about 3r...
