Steppin' Out As My Baby

Image
Trying To Stay Cool OK, life is like this. After my recent post where I ranted (yes, I RANTED, no two ways about it) about getting out, I spent an entire day . . . out! The weather outside was frightful (we don't usually get triple digit temps for more than a day or two, and it's now been over a week) but I had the opportunity and I went for it. The usual - stores, errands, grab a bite and like that. But it was an enjoyable time. OOTD I selected my Outfit Of The Day - jean skirt, kitten heels, and VERY light weight pantyhose - and I hit the trail. First stop - Dollar Tree. I usually buy my make-up wipes there as they carry a very good brand, and I get 40 wipes for $1.25. Things got off to a great start as I approached the store - a family was going in right before me (Mom, Dad and 2 girls). As I got up to the door, Dad held it open for me, with a big smile on his face. Chivalry is NOT dead! Bad News - Dollar Tree no longer carries that brand of make-up wipes! They had another...

How To Pick Up A Perscription While En Femme . . .

Image
Nothing is worse than having to delay/cancel a dressing up session because of a certain errand that you must run.  Picking up my perscription at the drug store is one of them.  I have to identify WHOSE scrip I am wanting, which connects me as that name with the pharmacist.  Well, this week I decided to not worry about it!   I had a full Julie Day ahead of me, and I was going to be in the neighborhood of my pharmacy and I needed to get that scrip.   So, wearing a jean skirt, black tights, black kitten heel booties, a cute top and my Purple Peacoat, I ventured into the drug store about 10 AM on a Thursday.   Hardly a crowd on a Thurs AM I walked boldly up to the counter, and when the pharmacist approached I said, "Ummm - I need to pick up my husband's prescription." --- Cop Out?  Good Cover? You decide.  All I know is it worked.  I got the scrip, didn't have to delay my "Day Of Julie" time, and was in and out before I knew...

Sisters, Sisters, There Were Never Such Important Sisters

Image
As we approach the 1 year Anniversary of the Pandemic Lockdown, I find myself missing many things.  Going to a nice restaurant, a movie, and of course The Theater - not only attending but (for those who do not know) acting in and directing plays.  But the thing that leaves the biggest hole in my heart is not being able to meet with my Sister Friends.  Not being able to sip coffee (or something stronger!) and chat about life, the universe and everything.  It took me SO long to come out to friends and to build up a super support network of loving, caring ladies.  Now, with that unceremoniously pulled away from me, I have found myself bouncing back and forth between lonliness and depression.   Original Sister Friend Sarah Going shopping, grabbing a coffee and walking through the park, sitting on the back porch, sharing a meal . . . not only are all these things better when wearing a cute skirt and heels, but much more so when you can share them wit...

Girls Just Wanna Go Shopping

Image
Every now and then, you get the uncontrollable desire to do something -- like shrug off all other responsibilities and just go shopping!  Just such a desire overcame me last Saturday morning.  So I bundled myself up cozy and got an early start. I needed an early start, because it took me quite a while to decide on an outfit for the morning. (everyone who is surprised by this, raise your manicured hand!)  My preference is (as always) skirt and hose, or on a chilly morning, tights.  But then my OTHER preference it to blend in - not look like a Guy In A Dress.  So I went with leggings and a pair of comfy kitten heeled boots. First Stop - the Bank! I was determined to ONLY shop for Julie this trip - so I wanted to hit my 2 favorite places. The first was Ross Dress For Less, where I found a bargain on the Clearance Rack. Normally $35, I got it for $7!! Next stop was Dress Barn -- but it was no more! Just an empty store, right next to Wal*Mart. So not wanting t...

About Being Out

Image
I spent the week out of town (a business trip - I was very thankful for the work!)  Which also meant I had my evenings free for Girl Time.  The biggest problems with this trip were; A) my work obligations kept me busy til various times - some days I'd be done by 3:30, others by 7.  {The Western Washington town I was in is a small one. Not much is open after 8PM except Wal*mart and Denny's} And 2) I was alone. I decided to make the most of it. Day One:  Finished work at 7, got back to my hotel to change and made it to a late movie - AVENGERS INFINITY WAR Fun Film!   Day Two saw my shift over at 3:30, which allowed me time to enjoy some of the Outlet Stores in the next town over.  I hit the Leggs/Haines/Bali store and had to educate the young lady working there, Sheri, about Long Line Bras, but eventually she understood what I was looking for. Sheri gave me a few options and checked me into a changing room After making my selection (the whit...
