Out And About Once Again - Finally!

Image
It has been FAR too long since Julie was actually Out and About.  So yesterday was SUCH a thrill on many levels.  My Dear Sister Friend, Sarah, offered to get together for a walk and coffee in the morning.  We both had masks, we were out in the open air, and we had such a WONDERFUL talk!   Sipping and chatting - but you can see our masks were present when not sipping It had been so long, we had a lot of catching up to do.  We spent 2 hours walking and talking and reveling in each other's presence.  I think we both needed the time together.  At one point, Sarah paid me a wonderful compliment and I surprised myself when I got rather emotional!  It has been a VERY long time. Later in the day, I did some shopping - for some necessities and some non-necessities.  :) Treating myself to some fun clothes Filling the pantry After returning home, I indulged in some photos for future "I Love Dressing" Memes. Lighting was poor Sank into the sofa! Un...

Mood Swings and Friendships

Image
I know this about myself - I have a bad habit of getting myself excited about an event that is just being discussed in the EARLIEST of planning stages. Then, when the plan changes, or looks like it won't be feasible to actually do it, I get all depressed about a "missed opportunity".  This happened to me this past week. My previous post discussed a POSSIBLE trip to Leavenworth, WA with the girls.  I failed to factor in the truth that not EVERYONE has a totally open and flexible schedule like I do.  When this became evident, I got depressed.  I then made the grave mistake of expressing my disappointment on Facebook in a rather cryptic way. My dear, DEAR friends Sarah and Linda immediately jumped in to put out the fire.  They were supportive, loving, and right there with options to fix it.  Our Week Of Fun will still happen, just with a different plan of attack.  Julie is now a happy girl again, and a very appreciative one.  Friends - true,...

Taking The Next Step

Image
In all my years of being Julie I have had many "firsts" *The first time I went out of the house (I think I was 17 - it was SO long ago I really can't remember - and it was a quick walk around the block. Short, but exciting.) *The first time I bought a dress (Thrift shops are GREAT! And I learned that they are just interested in making a sale, not in judging you.) *The first time I interacted with anyone in public (I was walking around the neighborhood, granted it was rather late at night, when a police car pulled up to me and asked "Ma'am, are you alright?" YIKES!  I said, "Yes, just walking home." and he drove on.  Whew!) I could go on, but I won't. (giggle) And now I am planning another - my first weekend getaway with the girls!  We are looking to take an overnight trip to Leavenworth WA (the "we" being myself, and my two besties, Sarah and Linda).  This will be the first time I have ever gone anywhere for an extended period...

All Dressed Up and No Place To Go

Image
Basic Black - always a hit Seems like I have been falling into a rut -- the rut of getting all dressed up first thing in the morning and then not having any where to go.  Most days I am without a vehicle.  Not really a deterrent to going out - I have a bus pass that will get me almost anywhere in our lovely town. Me on a previous outing - waiting for the aforementioned bus But travel by bus requires planning and a time commitment. When driving to the local Value Village, for example, it takes me 5 minutes.  To get there by bus would require walking, bus, change bus, and more walking -- about 25 minutes. Not to mention I must go when the bus is running, not whenever I feel like it. The other difficulty comes when I realize I will be venturing out alone.  Now, I've done it before, and will probably do it again and again.  But having someone to chat with, to see if that top REALLY goes with that skirt, to dish the dirt about 3r...
