A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Outing

Image
For the past "I don't know how many" years, I have been able to let Julie out most weekends - usually Saturday mornings. I meet with a friend for coffee and shopping, or I enjoy a nice breakfast out, and I usually get the weekly grocery shopping done.  Due to the sitution at home, I pack a bag on Friday night then head out early Saturday to one of my 2 "Changing Places". (as seen in this photo) But lately I have been experiencing an unusualy phenomenon. I get the bag packed ok, but come Saturday morning I have no desire to go out.  The one thing that guarantees me actually following through is making an appointment with a friend. If we have arranged to meet, I have no problem. But if it's just me, on my own, I often (usually?) bail. It doesn't mean I don't want to dress. It doesn't mean I don't want to spend some Julie Time Out And About. But I can't seem to generate the motivation to go out.  I then regret the decision for the rest of ...

Time Is Running Out!

Image
OK, that title was a tad melodramatic --- but I just noticed that I haven't posted a new article the entire month of March!  So, in order to rectify that heinous oversight . . .  It's been an interesting month. I found out my job is ending as of March 29th. No full time employment. Same bills to pay but no income. And what is the biggest concern on my mind right now? Having to find a new place to change into Julie Mode! In The Lobby My SO knows of Julie but would rather not be involved, and our son still lives at home with us, so I need a "changing place" outside the home. My office building provided the perfect location, especially on the weekend. A fitness center with shower rooms and lockers.  I could walk into the building as him and walk out as her. With a beautiful view of downtown Access to the building and the upper floors requires a code, and once my employment is terminated I will no longer have a code. What's a girl to do? Honestly though, once I get ...

Fitting A Whole Week Into One Post

Image
I did my bi-annual business trip across the state for a week of daytime work and nighttime fun!  The weather co-operated (chilly) so I could wear my favorite dress. I managed to get out a few nights to my usual watering hole - Applebee's. The ladies behind the bar are ALWAYS welcoming. In fact, I no sooner sat down the first night when Narissa came up to me and shared photos of her son (now 4 years old!)  Next night I did more of the same. And then -- ooops, I did it again! But a bit more casual this evening. It's always both an enjoyable and frustrating time - enjoyable for obvious reasons, and frustrating because I'm all alone.  (sigh) Maybe next time . . .  Until next entry - as always - Stay Safe And Pretty, Sweeties!

Blog Entey #130! - Where Everbody Wants To Know Your Name

Image
Blog Entry #130 - who-da thunk it!  I don't think I've done 130 of many other things, but here I am - Blog #130.  Feel free to look back and enjoy any of the previous 129 articles, I know I will. But for now, here we go . . .  I was able to get out last week (finally!) for a few hours. I planned some shopping, both necessities and clothes browsing.  I also planned to end the evening at Applebee's for a glass of wine and a snack.   I questioned the purple with the red, but I think it works I managed to NOT buy anything (other than the necssities) so I was REALLY looking forward to the wine. I pulled into Applebee's parking lot and it was packed. Honestly, when I see that, my first reaction is to NOT go in. Too many people, too many opportunities for being "read". But the lack of anything fun happening up to that point gave me the courage to get out of the car and walk in. In the parking lot - One Giant Step For Julie As I entered, there were a few fol...

Down Memory Lane -- In Pumps

Image
Funny how a random comment or reference can trigger a memory. That happened to me this morning.   I was reminded of the Halloween in my Jr year of high school when I decided to be "a hooker" and enlisted the VERY willing help of a female friend, Alice. It was mostly her wardrobe, and I have vague memories of exactly what I was wearing. I went to her house the week prior to select the "costume". She had laid out 4 or 5 dresses for me to try.  The first one was perfect, but that didn't stop me from wanting to try on all the others. Her mother, who was assisting, commented that I was enjoying my little fashion show. Alice supplied the shoes as well - good thing we were the same size - and I told her I'd take care of the undergarments. Our town did a Halloween Parade during the day on Oct 31, and I had "marched" with 2 friends - we were The Marx Brothers handing out candy along the parade route. So that evening I had transformed from Groucho to a Lady ...

Oh What A Night!

Image
I had a few free hours drop in my lap Friday evening, so I did what ANY gal would do. I got all dolled up in my best dress, did my make-up extra special, and went out for a glass of wine and a bite to eat.  But that's when the fun started. I even did my nails! I headed out to a nice place located in our downtown mall - Twigs Bistro. It was probably 6 months ago when I was there last.  As I walked up, the matre d' gal welcomed me. She had piercings on and around her nose that made an interesting pattern. I complimented her on the design, and she shot back with "And I love your bangs".  I got a bar table, since I was alone, and the gal tending bar gave me a smile and a "Welcome Back". She remembered serving me last time I was in, and I replied that I was impressed, since it's been so long. Service was great, and the waiter agreeded to help commemorate the evening. Only one glass of wine - don't know why my face is so red! There was another waitress th...
