Blog Entey #130! - Where Everbody Wants To Know Your Name

Blog Entry #130 - who-da thunk it!  I don't think I've done 130 of many other things, but here I am - Blog #130.  Feel free to look back and enjoy any of the previous 129 articles, I know I will. But for now, here we go . . .

I was able to get out last week (finally!) for a few hours. I planned some shopping, both necessities and clothes browsing.  I also planned to end the evening at Applebee's for a glass of wine and a snack.

I questioned the purple with the red, but I think it works

I managed to NOT buy anything (other than the necssities) so I was REALLY looking forward to the wine. I pulled into Applebee's parking lot and it was packed. Honestly, when I see that, my first reaction is to NOT go in. Too many people, too many opportunities for being "read". But the lack of anything fun happening up to that point gave me the courage to get out of the car and walk in.

As I entered, there were a few folk waiting to be seated. I usually go to the bar, or a bar table, and as I stood there pondering my fate a waitress, Tiffany, approached me.

"Hey Stranger! I have to ask, Melody (another waitress) and I were talking about you recently and we realized we didn't know your name. We referred to you as the woman who always looks sharp and gets Chardonnay." Well, I told her my name and she "officially" welcomed me in, directing me to grab a seat at the bar.

Freshening up afterwards

As I sat there, a young couple came in and sat one stool down from me. She glanced in my direction a few times, which usually tells me she's giving me the once over.  I finished my snack and on my way to the Ladies Room I told her I thought her overalls were VERY cute. Her face lit up with a smile and she thanked me.  (Dispensing a compliment - usually the best way to avoid conflict)  On my way out, Tiffany gave me a "don't stay away so long".

All this to say - when you find yourself hesitating, take that step of faith. You may be pleasantly surprised.
