Hitting The Town! (Night 1 - Surprise)



I recently spent a week out of town on business -- well, 5 days -- 3 days if you don't count the 2 days of driving there and back -- but definitely 4 nights!  And that's what I'm here to talk about.

I arrived, checked in with my employer, got to my hotel and started cleaning up -- all before 5PM.  This is important because this community is famous for their Outlet Malls. Yes, you read that right -- mallS. As in more than one.  Only problem is that they all close up about 8:00.  When working here I usually don't finish until after 7, which doesn't allow any time to change and hit the stores.  So I always try to get here early on Day 1 so Night 1 can be a Fun 1.

I tried something different this time.  You may recall from a previous blog I recently acquired some new under-things.  (https://juliemshaw.blogspot.com/2018/10/when-going-gets-tough-tough-go-shopping.html) Well, this was to be the night they got road tested.

So I decided to road test them tonight.  They felt wonderful and gave me more of an attitude of "I have a secret!"

I went with the "Working Woman Grabbing Some Dinner" look

 I headed out to Applebee's for a glass of wine and a salad. (This corset wouldn't allow me to eat anything heavier. Great for the diet, not so great for the appetite.)

I prefer Chardonnay - cliche, I know but I like it.

As I was sitting at the bar enjoying my salad, sipping my wine, and trying not to look at the guy who was obviously looking at me, I got a funny feeling around my thighs.


 Yup - a garter had snapped.  At first I thought I'd been bitten by a mosquito, then I felt the stocking droop a tad.  It was off to the Ladies Room to fix it - and the room was not empty.  I hurried into an open stall, took care of business (the garter!!) and wanted to snap a pic or two but the room must have been on the Hot Spot Of The Night list, because there was a steady stream of ladies in and out the whole time.

 I then hit the Hanes/Bali Outlet store and picked up quite a bargain -- which I will tell you all about in the next entry: Night 2 - The Persecution.

Funny how a random comment or reference can trigger a memory. That happened to me this morning.   I was reminded of the Halloween in my Jr year of high school when I decided to be "a hooker" and enlisted the VERY willing help of a female friend, Alice. It was mostly her wardrobe, and I have vague memories of exactly what I was wearing. I went to her house the week prior to select the "costume". She had laid out 4 or 5 dresses for me to try.  The first one was perfect, but that didn't stop me from wanting to try on all the others. Blog Entey #130! - Where Everbody Wants To Know Your Name

  Blog Entry #130 - who-da thunk it!  I don't think I've done 130 of many other things, but here I am - Blog #130.  Feel free to look back and enjoy any of the previous 129 articles, I know I will. But for now, here we go . . .  I was able to get out last week (finally!) for a few hours. I planned some shopping, both necessities and clothes browsing.  I also planned to end the evening at Applebee's for a glass of wine and a snack.   I questioned the purple with the red, but I think it works I managed to NOT buy anything (other than the necssities) so I was REALLY looking forward to the wine. I pulled into Applebee's parking lot and it was packed. Honestly, when I see that, my first reaction is to NOT go in. Too many people, too many opportunities for being "read". Brief Encounter - Lasting Impression

  OK - have to share this story because I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I was on my lunch break the other day (I work in drab) and popped into Mod Pizza. There in line in front of me was a young couple - I'm guessing early 20's. And she was . . . a Julie. I first noticed that her red shoulder length hair was too perfect, She was wearing a pretty floral dress (even downtown during the work day, a little over dressed) fucia sling back pumps and a matching fucia wrist bag, and a nice tan top coat over it all. She caught my attention, so I observed closely. Her voice was pitched high, but maybe too high. Her hands were not large, but borderline "man hands". I took the step and complimented her on her cute bag. She looked at me (mask on) and said Thank You. Her eyes were smiling, but I could tell her brows were not being taken care of.
