My Favorite Things

Image
In addition to writing a Blog myself, I follow a few. The one that got me started down this path is Femulate by Stana (http://www.femulate.org), a combination of insights, How To's, history, and inspiration.  I occasionally share some of her best stuff (with permission, of course) and this one struck a chord with me. It sums up my feelings when Julie is being her full self - as well as an answer to the question "Why do I crossdress" MY FAVORITE THINGS by Stana Smoothing the back of my skirt as I sit down. Pencil skirts. Crossing my legs and letting a high-heel pump dangle from the tip of my stockinged foot. Carrying a purse— my purse . Taking a compact from it to touch up my makeup. Wearing high heels. Hearing the click of those heels as I walk. Being called “Ma’am.” Better yet… being called “Miss.” Wrap dresses. A complete stranger stopping to say, “I like your dress,” or compliment something else I’m wearing. Shopping in a clothing store that opens a dr...

Becoming A Woman

I'm part of a FB Group called Big Cisters - a safe place for cisgender and transgender women to come together in sisterhood solidarity and share the joys and challenges of womanhood. Today I saw this post, written by Mo Cherry -  Dear my sisters I recently had a realization I'd like to share with my trans loves about the whole "woman enough" struggle. Trying on different looks and styles and makeup and even voices is so much a part of girlhood, It's kind of like playing dress up until you find the "costume" that actually feels like you.  Every time I see this phase in young women or trans folks, I find it so endearing. I know it;s a struggle while you're in it, but it...

My outfit on Jan 2! To help you catch up - I was working on the road from October 18 thru January 1. Due to the circumstances of the job, Julie stayed at home for that time. It was he longest "forced pause" I've ever experienced, and after 2 weeks I started feeling it. I got home on New Years Day, and wasted little time in getting my silks and satins out of storage. I also got to work planning a Sister Friends gathering. (Footnote - the name Sister Friends was coined for our group many years ago. Since then, the membership has grown and changed)  The appointed day for our Brunch Reunion was approaching, so I got to the task at hand - selecting an outfit. This is usually us - and I am always the one on the right! So I started going through the closet to pick out my wardrobe. Feminine but not too fancy, girly but not to frilly, something I haven't been able to wear for the past 3 months. This is what I went with Three of us carpooled to the restaurant, meeting the new...
