Making Up My Make-Up

I have been crossdressing for . . . . . . . . . . MANY years. I have been an actor for almost as long. What do these two things have in common?
MAKE-UP
As a junior in high school I had decided that theater was to be my career. So I started to study and practice stage make-up. One of the tests of someone's skills is cross gender faces. Men become women and vice versa. However, this was for stage, which means exagerated application so it reads from the back of the hall. Converting this into Street Make-up took quite some time and practice.

| One of my earliest attempts to go out in public |
This photo isn't from my first attempts at street make-up, but it is the earliest photo I have. Initially I had no one to help/guide my efforts, and I had a LOT of questions. How to match a base to your skin tone, to use beard concealer or not, how detailed should I do my eye make-up when I'm wearing glasses? It was trial and error for a number of years. Plus, with my work at the time, I had little time to actually practice in depth.
Skip ahead a few decades, I'm retired and have half a dozen female Sister Friends who have been a WONDERFUL help. I've been able to get out a few times a week (on average) and my Sisters are not hesitant to give me constructive comments. I tend to use Impress Press On Nails when trying to look fancy, and it really helps in presenting a more feminine hand.

Of course, wearing bangs helps any eyebrow errors, too! A Mary Kay Rep once told me that eyebrows should be sisters, not twins. Mine tend to look more like STEP Sisters. 😁
One of the hardest things is finding that perfect make-up (base, eye shadow or whatever), using it religiously, and then finding out the company discontinued it! My base - Cover Girl 440 - is getting harder to find, other than through Amazon. (sigh)
Summation - practice makes perfect. And selfies help, too. It helps to remember that no two women are alike, so you be you because there's no one who can be you better than you!
Stay Safe And Pretty, Sweeties.
