It's About Time

Image
Yes, it's about time.  And I invoke BOTH meanings of that phrase - "It about time you wrote another blog post" and "I would have written sooner, but it's about finding the time" (see what I did there?) I have been home for over a month now, and have been neglecting this blog.  Mostly because my free time has been taken up with job hunting. (No, I still haven't found anything yet, thanks for asking) But today I decided to put that on hold for half an hour and tend to y'all.   I have been active over the past 30 days, and those of you who follow my Facebook page will know that.  A few coffee dates, some shopping, and some just plain "I need to get out of the house or I''ll go crazy" times. Out for a walk around the neighborhood to clear my head   Fall arrived - time to trot out the boots Back in October I started losing weight.  Not because I felt fat, not because I hit 60 and needed to do something about it.  Bu...

GDO - SWFL Edition

Welllllllll --  while on a work trip to Southwest Florida, an unusual thing occurred.  Julie showed up! This was a "drab" work trip, but I attended a Femme Fantasy Birthday Party while there. (see blog entries "Hitting 60 (Posts)" and "Hitting 60 (Posts) Photo Update") (https://juliemshaw.blogspot.com/2019/07/hitting-60-posts.html) (https://juliemshaw.blogspot.com/2019/07/hitting-60-photo-update.html )  My Party Outfit It was there that I got to talk with Jennie about who Julie is, and she jumped at the chance to help out.  We met one night for a late supper and talked about a night out.  It took a while, but we were finally able to do a Day Out.  Lunch and The Mall.   Florida means sandals means pedicure! Outfit for the day PLUS she recruited 2 others to join us, also attendees of The Party - Erica (the gymnast!) and James (the fuzzy guy) (check the Photo Update for details).  We went to a lovely ...

Hitting 60 (Posts)

For my 60th Blog Post, I have an event to share.  I am currently in a show far away from home.  One of our cast members wanted to celebrate her birthday with a theme party -- Femme Fantasy.  She asked us all to come dressed in our best Femme persona.  Well, I was in heaven!  But I hadn't brought any "Julie Stuff" with me, so I had to cobble together not just an outfit, but hair, foundations and make up too. Not bad for a quickly put together look I went to the party knowing full well that the question would probably pop up - "You're looking so wonderful, have you done this before?"  Well, it did.  One gal in particular was very interested in who Julie is and said she'd like to spend more time with her. (squeeee!) The party itself was fun . . . . . . if not a little fuzzy!  But a good time was had by all - especially THIS girl. Some times stepping out into unknown territory can bring about new rewards and new friend...

The Ladies Who Brunch

Image
"Here's to the Ladies who lunch . . . everybody rise!"  I am headed out of town for 2 months (actually, at this posting, I am already out of town) so we tried to have a Sister Friends get together before I hit the trail. Coordinating schedules proved to be difficult this time round, so instead of a night on the town, we did brunch. Now this wouldn't be such a big thing if it weren't for the fact that I've never gone out in a bunch during the daylight hours, let alone been in a restaurant while the sun is shining.  But they say there's safety in numbers, and I always feel safe with these ladies, so we went. The Ladies of Sister Friends - the number keeps growing! The hardest decision was - as usual - what to wear!  The week prior I had selected a number of outfits, narrowed it down to 3 by Friday night, and then finally selected one early Saturday morning.  I did feel slightly over dressed in hose and heels but I didn't care - I was very...

Meanwhile, Back In The Closet . . .

Image
As I sit and ponder my next blog entry, I realize that since my weight loss over the last 8 months (10 pounds so far) I have not tried on my body con dress that WAS rather tight on me. (Honestly, it made me feel like a sausage!)  So,  into the closet I went to check it out. Hmmm . . . Well . . . Seems like it fits better now, but I'm still not sure. What do YOU think????  Stay safe and pretty, Sweeties.

Another Week - New Adventures

Got to spend a week out of town on a job - again. Same little town in Eastern WA, same limited opportunities to get out while dressed, but 2 wonderful events helped set this trip apart from all previous ones. My work day ended by 7PM at the latest - sometimes earlier.  There are only 2 places to go in Chehalis "after hours" -- Denny's and Applebee's.   Tonight I felt like a glass of wine, so . . .  I approached the bar section, which is what I usually do here since interaction with civilians increases when sitting at the bar than in a booth.  I no sooner planted my butt on the stool when I saw a man emerge from the restroom.  A man that I had been working with most of the day! (full disclosure - my job this week has been in male mode and no one involved with it knows of my "after hours" hobby) All it took was looking thru my purse to keep my face slightly hidden from him, and he passed by me without a second look.  Which made me feel both relieve...
